Kormarine is the largest and most prestigious marine trade exhibition, fully supported by the world’s biggest Shipbuilders in Korea as well as leading shipowners and offshore firms.

Kormarine, the premier trade event for the robust Korean Shipbuilding sector, covers both commercial and military Shipbuilding as well as featuring an area dedicated to ports and terminals. As a leading showcase for Korean marine business, Kormarine will be attended by all the major Shipyards including Hyundai Heavy, Hyundai Mipo, Hyundai Samho, Hanjin Heavy and Construction Co Limited, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co Limited, Samsung Heavy Industries and STX Limited, amongst others.

All the above mentioned Yards are heavily involved in the design and construction of high-value ships such as FPSOs, oil rigs, LNGs, LPGs, VLCCs, and product tankers as well as large container ships, passenger ferries and some bulkers. This means that substantial high-tech equipment is imported from abroad and they appreciate that UK companies produce equipment for their needs, particularly in the burgeoning LNG newbuild arena. Their procurement teams are always happy to meet and discuss with UK firms who have the appropriate marine products for export.

During the event there will be a BMEA Council meeting and dinner hosted by Wärtsilä Hamworthy.

These major shipyards are all fairly close to Busan.  Some are already involved, and others will become involved, in large naval defence and coastguard projects.

This is another important area where UK marine firms can take a lead through their technology and will be able to meet the defence procurement people at the Defence show, which lies alongside Kormarine at BEXCO and is easily accessible through open walkways.

This show is a must for all those who wish to gain a foothold in the lucrative Korean marine market

The key to accurate hydrographic mapping is continuous monitoring, for which the SNAV platform, presently under development, is a robotic ocean workhorse. Based on a stable SWASH hull this design is under development by a consortium of British engineers. The robot ship uses no diesel fuel to monitor the oceans autonomously (COLREGS compliant) at relatively high speed 24/7 and 365 days a year - only possible with the revolutionary (patent) energy harvesting system. The hullform is ideal for automatic release and recovery of ROVs or towed arrays, alternating between drone and fully autonomous modes. International development partners are welcome.  We are not at this time bound by contract to any one country. This vessel pays for itself in fuel saved every ten years.
