The River Nile is one of the most polluted rivers in the world, especially in Egypt, where it receives waste water, rubbish, agricultural runoff, and industrial waste. The pollution affects the biodiversity and human health of the people who depend on the river for water, food, and transportation. Some of the pollutants found in the Nile are heavy metals, bacteria, parasites, and pesticides.

a proposed fictional film, Cleopatra
is reincarnated from her DNA, on the discovery of her mummy. As per
her wishes to be reborn from the afterlife, as Isis. The former Queen of
the Nile then becomes fascinated with the Elizabeth Swann, and her
renewable energy source. Though this original ocean and climate awareness

They cleaned the Nile River from waste and plastic pollution, starting from Aswan in Upper Egypt to the Delta cities of Damietta and Desouq Ali, Rashid. The campaign covered a distance of about 1,000 kilometers and collected 342 kilos of waste in Cairo alone. The campaign was organized in preparation for the Climate Summit (COP27) that was held in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2023. The campaign broke the world record for the longest clean-up campaign along a river in the world, and should be officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
VERY NILE VeryNile was created in 2018 as an initiative that breaks boundaries through its wide range of ideas, strong commitment to action, and ability to bring together multi-sectoral volunteers and partners. The Nile is a symbol of Egyptian heritage and a source of life for Egypt. However, according to the World Economic Forum, it is also one of 10 rivers that contribute 90% of the garbage in the world’s oceans. By cleaning the Nile, raising awareness about the importance of reducing plastic consumption, and empowering local communities, VeryNile ensures that its impact is not just clear on a local and regional level, but on a global one as well.
VeryNile is supported by the Ministry of Environment. VeryNile is implemented by the Egyptian social enterprise Bassita. Bassita promotes and implements positive initiatives through building multi sectorial partnerships.
THE NILE COALITION
The Nile coalition is the first coalition of its kind, bringing together countries of the Nile Basin to all work together towards one purpose, cleaning and protecting the Nile. The first event of this coalition took place on September 18th where VeryNile and initiatives from Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi all gathered to clean and/or plant trees around the Nile to help protect it from inorganic waste. The coalition united members, resources and intentions for the sole purpose of reviving the beauty of the Nile. This event included Uganda Junior Rangers, Greenwatch, Red Rocks Initiative, & Association Burundaise, supported by the German NGO One Earth One Ocean. The country representatives will be a driving force to help prioritize Nile protection on several nations’ agendas as well as mobilize public support and encourage unity and action to protect the Nile from all harmful waste.

RIVER
CLEANING INNOVATION
- Something styled
along the lines of the SeaVax above could
routinely cleanse river
water without adding to climate
change. Clean-tech could improve social conditions in many
locations around the world and help to reduce effluent discharges into
our oceans. Volunteers campaigned hard for five long years, in the hope of
obtaining EU and other funding in the midst of a Brexit
maelstrom - that effectively meant European veto under H2020,
from 2016 to 2022, but the political will was simply not strong enough
anywhere in the world, with the powers that be not wanting to give up
their free dumping ground: the ocean. Amidst mounting national debts, and
unsustainable policies, electioneering, and kleptocratic empire building.
As
plastic pollution, especially from ghost
fishing nets, worsens, eventually, awareness campaigns may galvanize politicians
to arms, except in the UK where under new legislation protestors are
routinely prosecuted for peaceful campaigns under the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 and the Public Order Act
2023. Legislation that appears to conflict with the tenets of the Human
Rights Act 1998 and Universal
Declaration.
To
date (14 Jan 2024) SeaVax
is the only ship capable of recovering discarded
fishing gear. Sadly, the volunteers pioneering the project were forced
to abandon the project, to tackle their mounting mortgage arrears.
